The truth hurts but growing pains can be great!
Since social media is now the main online attractor for non-profit fundraising and organic donations, donor fatigue is in full swing. From saving endangered top-soil to humanity, every 501c3 is reaching out!
Almost ninety percent of the non-profits I get hired to manage all do the same thing. They only post in their social media profiles when they need something and it’s getting pretty myopic.
So as the online competition for non-profit donations gets heavier I suggest a lighter engagement program that keeps your support base always smiling and willing to support, donate and volunteer. I call it the 3S Social Media system – Show, Shine and Share.
SHOW – In your non-profit blog, write a simple post celebrating milestones and/or goals directly related to your mission (local or chapter).
SHINE – In that blog shine a light of success on a recipient of the non-profits benefits and post a picture of the person as well.
SHARE – Then share the blog on your non-profit Facebook page, PInterest and twitter account.
As well as spreading good cheer throughout your non-profit community it helps your ultimate goal; get people back to your website for further info/data-mining and fundraiser initiatives. Oh and of course, this really helps your website search engine ranking.
